Vaseline has a place in our history. It was first discovered by men working on oil rigs. They found it was created as a by-product from distilling petroleum. Robert Chesebrough, who was a chemist, sought to cash in on this stuff, and made it into a household product. Since then, young people have been using it for the craziest of things.

Also, many songs have been written about it, from The Talking Heads (see my last post about a free mp3 from David Byrne of the Talking Heads) to Stone Temple Pilots, The Flaming Lips and Ice Cube.

If only Mr. Chesebrough had known what his patent would have spawned, he would have made more money. It asks for a costco id#, but it is not required to get a free sample, so just leave that part blank.
